In recent years, more patients are seeking a convenient alternative to traditional wire braces such as clear aligners. Invisalign® uses a series of removable custom-made aligners that gradually adjust teeth and improve bite issues. Patients should notice a reduction in jaw pain as their bite pattern improves.
Invisalign® clear aligners can correct crooked, crowded, and gapped teeth, all of which place more wear and tear on the jaws. The clear aligners apply pressure to the teeth so they will gradually shift into the desired place. Over time, the teeth become straighter and the patient has a more even-looking smile. Invisalign® can also have a positive impact on the shape of a patient's face and make features more symmetrical.
Patients who suffer from jaw pain may experience relief during Invisalign® treatment. The aligners can help protect teeth from grinding at night, thereby decreasing inflammation of jaw muscles. As therapy progresses, the upper and lower jaws will become properly aligned and this too can decrease jaw pain.
